Garden City from Anthony

Hey Anthony - you mentioned some very cool stories about Garden City - can you post a few stories here?

Well I went to St. Pauls in Garden City from 7th grade through 11th when it closed down in 1991 because of financial issues.

You should make a trip to see this building if you haven't seen it yet - it's on Stewart Ave near the Garden City Hotel.

I know a bunch of stories about the building. The few I can think of right now are:
1. Years ago a maid hung herself and apparently students have seen her apparition roaming the dorms..

2. Another ghost story - St. Pauls used to be a military school and many have said to see an apparition of a student in military garb roaming the hall ways.

3.A half mile tunnel which runs underneath Garden City which connects St. Pauls to the Cathedral. (this is true - I saw the entrance for it and you can see the path in the winter time when it snows - the heat from the tunnel melts the snow and you can see the path across the lawn going towards the cathedral.

Unrelated to St. Pauls, I heard that if you drive 30 mph in Garden City you will not hit any stop lights. I tried it and it didn't work for me, but apparently you need to time it perfectly.

and if you never saw this building in person, make a trip, it's worth it and it's a one of a kind on Long Island. Besides, it looks like Garden City might knock it down which is a shame... They don't make them like this anymore.
